Bio

Born in Messina, Italy, in 1983, Valentina Morello is a contemporary artist currently based in Barcelona, Spain. After completing her studies in Economics, she pursued her lifelong passion for art by enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she developed the foundations of her artistic practice.

Working primarily with mixed media, collage, and painting, Morello explores the relationship between contemporary visual culture and social reality. Her work combines fragments of advertising, media imagery, political symbols, and popular culture, creating layered compositions that investigate themes of identity, consumerism, gender, power, and collective memory. Through the deconstruction and reconstruction of familiar images, she invites viewers to question the narratives and values embedded in modern society.

Influenced by artists such as Mimmo Rotella and Mark Bradford, Morello employs layering and material experimentation as both aesthetic and conceptual tools. Her practice reflects a strong social consciousness, often addressing issues related to inequality, media influence, conflict, and the human condition in an increasingly interconnected world.

Throughout her career, she has exhibited her work internationally, participating in solo and group exhibitions across Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain. In 2015, she took part in the prestigious AAFair In Bristol, further expanding the international reach of her work.

Today, living and working in Barcelona, Morello continues to develop a distinctive visual language that bridges personal expression and social commentary, encouraging dialogue about the complexities of contemporary life.
